Do not paste a witness's real name, ID number, or exact address into filenames, sample data, comments, or test fixtures inside a project built with Cursor unless Privacy Mode is switched on. With it off, which is the default on Free and Pro accounts, that code and whatever real data is embedded in it may be used to train Cursor's and its model providers' systems.

Cursor's own Data Use page states: with "Privacy Mode" switched off, "we may use and store codebase data, prompts, editor actions, code snippets, and other code data and actions to improve our AI features and train our models." With Privacy Mode switched on, Cursor states customer data is not used for training and it maintains zero-data-retention agreements with its model providers. Privacy Mode is available on every plan including Free, but is off by default on Free and Pro accounts: a user has to find it in settings and turn it on. Team and Enterprise admins can force it on for everyone.

Cursor does not publish a country allowlist or blocklist the way OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google do; no report of it being blocked in Iraq was found. As with other paid SaaS tools, organisations in the region report that Iraqi-issued cards are often declined; this is a widely reported pattern, not a documented Cursor policy. The free plan needs no card.
