Never put this into it
Even though Notion's AI subprocessors are contractually barred from training on your content, that content still leaves your organisation to be processed by a third-party model and can be held for up to 30 days on Free, Plus, and Business plans. Avoid pasting full witness testimony, exact locations, or ID numbers into a Notion AI prompt unless your organisation is on the Enterprise plan, which has zero retention with the model provider.
Notion is where a team keeps its notes, project trackers and documents. Notion AI is the assistant inside it: draft a page, summarize one, or ask a question about what colleagues have already written.
That is both the point and the limit. Notion AI is useful in proportion to how much of your work actually lives in Notion, so adopting it is a decision about where your organisation keeps its records, not just which assistant to try.
Notion runs a nonprofit programme with a discount and a few hours of onboarding help. For a tool a whole team has to move into, the onboarding is worth more than the discount.

How long it is kept
Notion states that it and its AI subprocessors do not use customer content to train models, and that its contracts with those subprocessors bar them from training on it. Content sent to Notion AI is still processed by a third-party model provider and, on Free, Plus, and Business plans, may be retained by that provider for up to 30 days; Enterprise plans carry zero data retention with the model provider.

Notion does not publish a country allowlist or blocklist; no report of it being blocked in Iraq was found, and Notion specifically launched Arabic-language support in January 2026 as an investment in the Middle East. As with other paid SaaS tools, organisations in the region report that Iraqi-issued cards are often declined; this is a widely reported pattern, not documented Notion policy. The free plan and the nonprofit programme above need no card.
