Ollama (running local models on your own computer)
Runs AI language models entirely on your own computer. No account, and nothing sent anywhere.
Safe for sensitive material
Ollama downloads an AI language model onto your computer and runs it there. Once a model is downloaded it needs no internet connection.
The catch is hardware. A model good enough to be useful wants several gigabytes of disk and RAM, and on an ordinary office laptop it answers noticeably slower than a website does. Someone has to install it and choose which model to download. That one-off setup is the real barrier, and it is worth clearing: this is what you use when the material must not leave the building.
